DAS granted approval for Star Barn relocation and restoration
Palmyra, PA (October 2015) – The purchase of the Star Barn, “the most recognizable barn in the country”, by DAS Companies, Inc. nearly a year ago marked the beginning of a very exciting journey. Since last October, the team has been working to gain zoning and building approvals to proceed with the relocation and restoration of the barn.
Recently, final zoning approval from West Donegal Township was granted which allowed DAS to commence work with the Township Board Supervisors on land development and building code regulations to move the historic Star Barn and its farmstead buildings from Middletown to the Ironstone Ranch in Elizabethtown, PA.

In addition, the National Park Service is allowing their historic places designation to stay intact for the barn after it is moved. The special exception was made for the Star Barn because of the notoriety and unique architecture of the structure. The move of the Star Barn to the Ironstone Ranch property along with registration on the National Register of Historic Places will remain in effect.
“It is our mission to restore the Star Barn complex back to its original 1870’s glory so that it can once again be shared with the community,” said Michael Kleinhans, Project Manager. “It will be integrated into Ironstone’s existing rural heritage meeting center.”
